Always Use Breathing EquipmentUnlike tile adhesive, grout will dry into a very fine dust on the surface of the tiles. As it is so fine it is then carried in the air and eventually may enter your lungs, possibly causing an allergic reaction. It also has a nasty habit of getting into your eyes, making them an attractive blood red. The best way to avoid any of this hassle is to go out and invest in some good breathing apparatus. You can pick up some goggles and a mask from most hardware stores. Always Mix Grout Using Cold WaterGrout reacts to heat, even heated water. So if you were to try and mix a batch of grout using hot water you'll find that it sets so fast that you won't even have a chance to use it. Your bucket will also be destroyed as the grout will set in it! So always use cold water when preparing a batch. Don't Set It In SunlightIt may seem farly simple, but if you were to leave a bucket of grout in direct sunlight you'll find it sets much faster beause of the increase in temperature. Always keep buckets of grout in a well shaded and cool area. Getting The Grout To Set FasterIf you need back into your room but you have to wait for the grout to dry, then check out this simple tip. Turn on the heat and close the doors. The extra heat will make the grout set much faster, allowing you back in to enjoy your new floor.
