Cleaning and maintenance system is easy because it is not subject to more wear and tear compared to any other surface. Karndean can be easily cleaned compared to a real wood wherein polishing or sanding and repairs to damaged marble, slate, or terracotta floors is inconvenient and costs too much. Karndean requires only simple 3 stage cleaning system and does not need to be varnished at regular intervals. The first stage in cleaning Karndean flooring involves the basic cleaner and stripper preparation. Newly laid floors should be left for at least 24 hours before furniture is placed or cleaning the floor. A soft brush should be swept on the floor before using the cleaning and maintenance products. Remove all remains of adhesive after the installation as well as the previous applications of dim glow floor protector. Dilute the basic cleaner and the stripper about 1:5 ratio, then spread the solution liberally over the floor with the use of a mop. Leave to work for about 5 minutes. Then scrub the floor with the blue applicator and green pad. Remove the residue using a mop, then wash thoroughly with clean water. Never allow to dry the basic cleaner and stripper on the floor. A rubber gloves should be worn while applying the basic cleaner and the stripper. And for the removal of stubborn marks, use an undiluted basic cleaner and stripper. The second stage of Karndean flooring cleaning helps protect the floor from marks and fine scratches by using the dim glow floor protector. It creates a matt and an anti-slip film finish. It also helps to simplify routine cleaning. Make sure the floor is completely dry and free of all traces of the basic cleaner and stripper before proceeding with the application. With the use of a blue applicator and a white pad, spread a thin and even layer of undiluted dim glow floor protector in one direction. Then leave this layer to dry for about 30 minutes. Then repeat the procedure in a transverse direction. White pad should be rinsed thoroughly immediately afterwards for future use. The surface should be leave to dry for at least 6 hours or preferably overnight. In case there is a need for dim glow replenishing, repeat the procedure again from stage 1. The dim glow floor protector will need to be stripped and reapplied every six months in order to maintain the protective layer. The third or final stage of cleaning the Karndean floor simply involved the addition of 50ml routine cleaner in a bucket with approximately 8 to 10 liters of water. Use a damp mop over the entire floor area. Then leave it to dry. Do not use a wet mop. The above procedure should be use regularly for easy cleaning and to maintain the beauty and luster of the Karndean floor. |
